Genocide Response // Global Studies

Genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular nation, group or race. I think genocide happens because of argument, disagreement, hatred and jealousy. In Global Studies we watched a movie about what happened in the Rwanda Genocide. I learnt that it was sparked / started by the death of Rwanda President Juvenal Habyarimana, when his plane was shot down above the Kigali airport on the 6th of April, 1994. Kigali is the capital city of Rwanda. I believe to prevent future genocides happening over the world we need to make more laws and human rights. And also an appropriate way to punish those responsible.

Job Roles in the Film Industry

This term we are making a film as a class. First of all, I can be serious when needed and listen to the director and instructions given. I would rehearse when asked to and arrive on time. I will have the energy and dedication to preform.

English Term 1 - 10EV

I have enjoyed English so far. At the start of every class we do a 'big question' to get us in the habit of writing and to prepare ourselves for the English period.  Last term, we started reading a novel called The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie. Which I really enjoyed. After we read a few chapters we would have an activity to do related to the book. I made a timeline of the main events that happened during the book. Click on the link too see my timeline .  We also practised the S-e-x-y paragraph structure. I know this might found a bit odd, but the letters actually stand for something. S - s tatement, E -  e xplanation, X - e x ample and Y - y our opinion. I found this method handy to write a good, detailed paragraph. Here is an example:  We both have a strong opinion which is that Juniors biggest challenge was finding hope and, breaking the chains that stereotype Indians as nobody's. This is his biggest challenge because i...

Term 1, Media Studies

This term in Media Studies I learnt a lot about camera angles and their effects. I learnt that there are 10 main camera shots. Establishing shot, establishes the setting and shows the big picture. Long shot, taken a long way from the actors. Mid shot, shows the characters from the middle up wards. Close up shot, gives a close look at a characters face or significant object. Extreme close up shot, shows an extremely close-up view of a character or object. Eye level angle, the camera is at the same level as the characters are. It shows us exactly what someone else might see on the screen. High angle, the camera looks down on the scene from a high angle Low angle, the camera looks up from below Point of view shot, looks at the scene as if the camera was a character in the scene Over the shoulder shot, shows the scene as if you were standing behind the character and seeing what they see.
