9 Art - 2017

Science electrical inventions project

I worked with Zara and Nina and made a cardboard house with a lighting system.  P ositive - M inus - I nteresting ` A positive thing about our invention was we got the job done quickly.   A minus thing about our invention was  we didn't really work as a team, we were kinda doing our own thing.  A interesting thing about our invention was  we tried a lot of different ways for everything to work properly.  I think this project was a much better was of assessing our knowledge than doing a test.  Here is the link for some more info about what we did:  Electrical inventions worksheet  Here is a video of our lighting system:

Music Goals

Last week my goals were to  play slower and play in the right time. I think I didn't achieve my goals so this week I am going to try harder and focus on what  I am playing a bit more.

Techniques for Music

Today in music the techniques I am working on is practising my transitions between chords and trying to find the right chords on the piano. .  I practised both techniques. To try and get my transitions right between changing chords I slowed down so I could find the right chords. The piece of music I was trying to practice was just starting to come together.

Music ~ Piano Chords

Today we learnt some chords. A chord is 2 or more notes played together (normally three). We practised the chords on a piano and played them to a partner, who had to guess what chords we were playing.  We learnt some of these chords: C,F,G Am, F, G G, C, D Em, C, D I also learnt that the MINORS sound more dull and the MAJORS  sound more high pitched.

Music

Today in class we had to make a google slide and include periods of music. We had to find a piece of music from that era and listen to it. We were also learning how to draw a structural chart for music. We did the structural chart so we could learn how to produce / compose music. 

Harpsichord and Piano

The harpsichord sounds different than the piano because the strings are plucked. And in the piano the strings are struck. The harpsichord and the piano may look the same but they sound quite different.

Baroque and Classical Music

What I learnt... Baroque music is a type of Western European art music that was used from about 1600 - 1750. Classical music is a type of European music that was mainly used during 1750 - 1850. Classical music is more modern than Baroque and Baroque is more an older type of music. Baroque is more of a happy sound while classical music is more sad and depressing. In Baraquoe music some of the instruments used are Lute Cello Violen Flute Bass

English with Mr Hanson ~ Term 1 - What have I been learning? In English I have learnt quite a lot. Mainly about the Hero's Journey. I found it difficult at first but I'm understanding it a bit more.  - What has been my successes? My successes would probably be learning about the Hero's Journey and being able to make a presentation about it.  - What do I need to work on next term? Mainly my vocabulary and understanding the definitions of words - How am I feeling about secondary school?  I think so far it is quite fun, a little challenging but I know as we go on through high school things are gonna get a lot harder
